According to officials, the arrests followed specific intelligence inputs regarding the activities of the group. Acting on the information, a Special Cell team led by Inspectors Satish Rana and Ashok, under the supervision of Assistant Commissioner of Police Vivek Kumar Tyagi, conducted coordinated raids at multiple locations in Delhi and Punjab.
The investigation first led police to Amritsar, where Shubdeep Singh was arrested. Police recovered a foreign-made pistol, live cartridges, and multiple mobile phones from him. Based on his interrogation and further investigation, police arrested his associates, Gurjant Singh and Sajan Singh, from different locations in Punjab. The fourth accused, Gaganpreet, was later apprehended in Delhi on April 24.
During sustained interrogation, investigators alleged that the accused had remained in regular contact with Pakistani handlers through foreign telephone numbers in an attempt to evade surveillance by Indian security agencies. Police further claimed that the group received consignments of weapons and narcotic substances delivered by drones across the international border.
According to investigators, Gaganpreet had allegedly conducted reconnaissance of police stations and religious places in Delhi. He was reportedly assigned the task of carrying out a firing incident in the National Capital as part of the alleged conspiracy.
Police identified Shubdeep Singh, also known as Vishal, as a resident of Tarn Taran district near the India-Pakistan border. Officials stated that he had previously been arrested in a narcotics-related case and was allegedly involved in receiving drone consignments containing weapons and narcotic substances.
Gurjant Singh, also known as Rishi, is also a resident of Tarn Taran, while his cousin Sajan Singh, also known as Honey, belongs to Amritsar. Police alleged that both were actively involved in receiving weapon consignments delivered through drones and had previously been booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
Investigators further alleged that Gaganpreet, a resident of Fatehgarh Sahib in Punjab, remained in contact with Pakistani handlers through social media platforms. He was reportedly instructed to prepare videos of police establishments and other sensitive locations in Delhi to assist further operational planning.
A criminal case has been registered under the relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Arms Act. Officials said the investigation is continuing and further details are awaited.
The arrests mark a significant counter-terrorism operation by the Delhi Police Special Cell, highlighting the continuing threat posed by cross-border terror networks allegedly using drone-based weapon deliveries, encrypted communications, and local operatives to target sensitive locations in the National Capital.
